How cool is this? I'm sat on a train, as I blog this inna GPRS-stylee. What's more, I'm listening to the the wireless on the same phone. Gadgets! Bring me more gadgets!
<smug mode>Don't know why Ananova's reporting this now - I could have told them that after a certain conversation with a certain tall person on June 4th, 1998...</smug mode>
Possibly misleading - because, of course, according to Quantum Physics, you can reach a particular speed without passing through all the ones below; so you can get to 100mph without ever having been at 88.8 (which might be useful in certain cars).
Of course, Einstein's Theory of Relativity doesn't say you can't travel faster than the speed of light - only that it's not possible to travel at the speed of light itself. There are actually some types of particles that cannot move slower than lightspeed.
"You saw it with Pop Idol and the hype around the show certainly helped me"
I'm tempted to head off on a rant here. HELPED?
"If there's the same amount of hype then you think they will do really well, which will affect everyone else," he said.
No, just the other television pop stars, dear boy. You'll notice the genuine talents manage to keep going.
As I pointed out to Juanes the other day, there was a BBC online vote which, at last viewing, had over 90% of a 1000+ voters slating the Charts.
Of course, record companies control them by co-ordinating releases and favouring pop stars with publicity over others (I'm a massive Oasis fan but I'm not being specific), with the result that some types of music feature more heavily. And I think I'm not alone in assessing it to be not exactly the best music.
"Don't threaten me with a dead fish!" --Withnail to Jake.
Michael Elphick: may you rest in peace, sir. Most people will remember you for your rôles in any number of TV shows. I shall remember you, specifically, for that scene in Withnail and I.
